You will learn how to lead sessions in a way that allows your students to derive the maximum benefits from Zoga Movement Integration. Over the course of a 15-day training cycle, you will learn how to assess the potential for full movement capacity in all areas of the body through a 12-step process, and then integrate them into fluid coordinated movement. You will learn to recognize dysfunctional alignment and movement organization in the body through precise biomechanical analysis in both static and dynamic contexts. You will acquire techniques to address the challenges that practitioners may encounter during your sessions. You will become familiar with the biomechanical principles governing different areas of human anatomy and understand the relationships between them. You will learn how to guide practitioners through movement to discover new possibilities for free and effortless movement in space. The training will focus on skills such as body observation, directing movement, verbalizing commands, managing a group, and using props to facilitate exercises for individuals with movement difficulties. • Bonework: Integrating Bone Fascia

    Toruń, Poland | 14-19.05.2024

    Speaker: Sharon Wheeler

    Bonework: Integrating Bone Fascia

    Bone Change:

Since the initial spontaneous discovery in 1973 Sharon has been exploring the curious phenomenon of Bone Change. These techniques are designed to address shape and contour. Bone Change employs precisely placed manual pressure into the fascial elements of the bone. The chronic distortions left over from badly healed breaks in the bone, or scars in the bone, transform towards normal in moments. Results appear to be permanent.

Sharon will also demonstrate “Two-Handed Torque” for the cranium. This fascinating and unique approach smoothes out irregularities in the cranium, nicely demonstrating the fascial plasticity of spongy bone.

Students will exchange sessions under the supervision of the instructor and will have the opportunity to work with an external model. Sharon teaches this endlessly fascinating subject with detail and precision, with individual attention and a tendency to inventiveness.

We warmly invite you to learn with Sharon Wheeler and learn from her over 50 years of experience in working with the body.

Sharon Wheeler before becoming Structural Integration Therapist Sharon Wheeler was part of the staff at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California, where she taught massage for several years. Sharon was one of the first students and also one of the few women to study with Dr. Ida Rolf from 1970 to 1978. Sharon was one of Dr. Rolf’s “artistic experiments”. Currently, he practices in Washington, near Seattle, and conducts specialist classes, incl. BoneWork, ScarWork, Work on the Skull or Work on the Cross Bone.

Structural Integration for the Cranium – 4 days

This training is intended for therapists who want to learn how to work on the skull, which can very effectively influence its shape and asymmetries. Through gentle and precise rotational and balancing movements, the therapist makes changes in tension in the area of individual fascial layers. Through these changes, it affects the relationships of bone elements as well as their internal stresses and deformations. Ida Rolf worked on the skull in Session 7 of Structured Integration and Sharon Wheeler, her direct student, developed this work towards gently deforming head asymmetry in children. The seventh session is central to the ten sessions of the Structural Integration Process. Dr. Rolf once said that we are doing the first six sessions so that we can move on to the seventh session, and then the last three sessions are spent integrating what is coming from the seventh session.

The main session schema is from Dr. Rolf with some interesting bone changing techniques developed specifically for the skull by Sharon. These bone changing techniques are straightforward; you can expect big structural changes from them.

Other specialized cranial techniques include grips for the mandible, zygomatic arch, eye sockets, and the Atlas / Axis surrounding area. We will also work with the nose, ears and other structures at the front of the neck.

Students will exchange sessions under the supervision of the instructor and will have the opportunity to work with an external model. Sharon teaches this endlessly fascinating subject with detail and precision, with individual attention and a tendency to inventiveness.

Scarwork: Integrating Scar Tissue into the Fascial Web – 4 days

Scar tissue work uses a casual light touch and the work is rarely painful even for very new scars and the amount of change in one intervention is extensive.

Natural and surgical scars of any age respond immediately followed by a short period of rapid healing and continued improvement. Scar tissue quality changes quickly and easily. The work starts with the surface layers and goes into the far reaches of the scars. Scar work often results in large whole body integration shifts along with trauma resolution and nerve impaired numbness usually resolves within a session.

    Born to walk

    Overview
Walking is one of the most common daily functions, but one of the least understood biomechanically. To understand anatomy the therapist must first understand function.

On this course, we analyse the mechanics of efficient gait, looking at the chain of movement events from the feet to the spine and into the shoulders. Upon completing this course you will have the tools to understand true, real-life movement and how to correct faulty patterns.

Based on the well researched and well-received text of the same name, this workshop is designed to help the therapist understand functional anatomy. In this workshop we analyse the mechanics of efficient gait, looking at the chain of movement events from the feet to the spine and into the shoulders. We explore how gravity and momentum work in concert with joints and the fascial and myofascial tissue to improve proprioceptive communication, muscle firing, and collagenous tissue recoil.

You will come away with the tools to investigate, analyse and intervene in non-pathological walking. We will explore the many ways in which collagenous tissues assist movement efficiency and then learn how to build a personalised movement program to improve your clients’ gait..

„The Tail End” –The tail end of the body receives a generous number of accidental impacts. These impacts can distort the relationship between the bones and they also distort the shape of the bones in the region; the sacrum, coccyx, pelvis, and femur. Sharon will give a guided tour of structural landmarks through this complex region. These landmarks give you a guide to help evaluate good structure from damaged structure. Relevant Structural Integration work will be included as well as specialized BoneWork for the remediation of damaged, distorted bones throughout the region. Students will exchange sessions and we will have models for practice with supervision.

During this hands-on training, we will discuss body symmetry disorders beginning with head asymmetry and the head-and-neck junction. We will demonstrate ways to work with this area and try this work on ourselves and on external models. We will use strategies for raised ribs and clavicles, the most common foot, pelvic and craniofacial defects, malocclusion and other developmental disorders we encounter in our patients.

We will also learn strategies for working on children after heart surgery and other common pediatric surgical procedures. This training will prepare you for hands-on structured work in the office with specific clinical cases in infants and give you the opportunity to effectively impact these problems.

    Why Thailand?

Staying here is unlike anywhere else in the world. For 10 days you literally “float” on an incredibly peaceful lake, surrounded by magnificent formations in one of the last primary rainforests on this planet. The wild nature includes many different species of monkeys and rare tropical birds, lizards, and even elephants and tigers…
You will experience true nature and return to a simple, natural rhythm of life with the right amount of comfort. Chefs on-site serve delicious meals consisting of fresh fish, rice, plenty of fruits and vegetables, as well as many vegetarian options.

All structures: bungalow, restaurant, yoga hall, shop are “floating” and connected by bridges — FLOATING IN PARADISE🙂

Each Bungalow is simple yet beautiful — wooden bed frame, mattress, bedding, pillows, and mosquito net (upon request) and towels. Each one has a terrace and a hammock where you can nap, rest, listen to the sounds of birds and admire unforgettable views.
